Are you preparing to participate in the Nord Trail Monts de Flandres 2027? Find here the answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding registration, bibs, equipment, courses, aid stations, parking and race day.

REGISTRATION

What age do you have to be to participate in the NTMF?

For the 13km race, you must be at least 18 years old in the year of the event. For the 25, 30, 42, 59, 80 and 115km distances, the minimum age is 20 years old in the year of the event.

Do I need a license or a PPS to participate?

Participants over the age of 18 must provide either a valid FFA license accepted on the date of the event, or the certificate required by current federal regulations. The exact details applicable to the 2027 edition will be specified before registration opens.

Can you register on the day of the race?

No. No registration is possible on the day of the event.

Can I give my race number to someone else?

No, not directly. Bib exchanges between individuals are not permitted outside of the official procedure established by the organizers. An official resale platform is planned to allow for the resale and purchase of bibs within a secure framework.

Can I get a refund if I am injured?

Registration is generally final and non-refundable. Some distances may have a cancellation option offered during registration, subject to the conditions defined for the specific edition. Please consult the 2027 regulations before registering.

RIB NUMBERS

When can I collect my race number?

Friday, April 23: 9am–8pm
Saturday, April 24: 9 a.m.–6 p.m.

at the Sports Hall, Chemin Haut in Saint-Jans-Cappel.

Can I collect my race number on Sunday morning, the day of the races?

No. Race bibs will not be handed out on race day. If you are unsure whether you will be able to collect your bib on Friday or Saturday, you can select the bib delivery option from your registration form.

Can someone else collect my race number?

Yes. A friend or family member can collect your race bib on your behalf, provided they have the required documents: a copy or photo of your ID, and the registration QR code that runners will receive within 10 days of the race .

What documents do I need to present to collect my race number?

You must bring the QR code received by email and an identity document and (if applicable) the required sports document (PPS or license).

Can I receive my race bib by mail?

Yes, a race bib delivery option was offered during registration. Those who opted for this option will receive their bib one to ten days before the races.

THE RACES

What are the proposed distances for NTMF 2027?

The NTMF offers 7 races:

13 km — 280 m elevation gain
25 km — 550 m elevation gain
30 km night race — 710 m elevation gain
42 km — 990 m elevation gain
59 km — 1,150 m elevation gain
80 km — 1,500 m elevation gain
115 km — 2,150 m D+.

What time does each race leave?

The scheduled departures are:

115 km: 2 hours
30 km night: 4 hours
80 km: 6 hours
59 km: 7 hours
13 km: 8 hours
25 km: 9 hours
42 km: 10h.

Why aren't the detailed routes published well in advance?

Part of the route uses private roads and land accessible specifically for the event. In order to respect the landowners and the permissions granted to the organizers, the routes are therefore not intended to be used freely outside of the event.

Are sticks allowed?

No. Walking or trail poles are prohibited on NTMF races.

Is it okay to run with your dog?

No. Runners are not allowed to participate with a dog or any other animal, even on a leash. Similarly, it is forbidden for a runner to be accompanied by someone on a bicycle.

Do some of the races pass through Belgium?

Yes. Several long-distance races include part of their route in Belgium. An identity card is mandatory for participants in these races, particularly for the 42, 59, 80 and 115 km races.

EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES

What equipment is mandatory?

The required equipment depends on the distance. The regulations stipulate, among other things, a water supply, a food supply for certain race formats, a waterproof jacket, a survival blanket, and, for some long-distance races, a whistle. The exact requirements for each race should be consulted in the regulations and the Runner's Guide before the start.

On which races is a headlamp mandatory?

Headlamps are mandatory for the start of the 115km at 2am, the 30km night at 4am and the 80km at 6am.

Are there any refreshment stations along the routes?

Yes, except for the 13km race which only has a finish line refreshment station. The number of refreshment stations then increases according to the distance: the regulations stipulate 1 on the 25km, 2 on the 42km, 3 on the 59km, 4 on the 80km and 6 on the 115km.

For the 30km night race: Self-supported race: consult the specific information for 2027 before the start.

Will there be cups at the aid stations?

No. No disposable cups are provided. Each participant must bring their own reusable container: ecocup, flask, bottle or water bladder.

Is personal assistance permitted?

Personal assistance is not permitted on the course, except under the conditions specified by the organizers at the aid stations. Unofficial aid stations are prohibited. You may obtain supplies near the official aid stations, that is, within 50 meters before and after each one. If you have any waste to dispose of, please do so in the bins and containers provided by the organizers around the aid stations.

RACE DAY

How long before my departure do I need to arrive in the departure area?

Entry to the starting area is mandatory 20 minutes before the scheduled race time. A briefing will be held approximately 15 minutes before the start. Some races will start in waves. Please note: there is no priority based on skill level.

How does the timing system work?

An electronic chip is integrated into the race bib. It records the passage at the start, checkpoints, and finish. Therefore, the chip and the race bib must not be bent or damaged.

Where should I wear my race number?

The race number must be worn on the chest or stomach, fully visible throughout the race and over clothing. It must not be attached to the bag.

Is there a bag drop-off point?

Yes. A baggage drop-off point is available in the FLOW room for participants in the various races.

Are there bathrooms ?

Yes. Toilets are available near the start and finish areas, as well as at various aid stations. There are no showers.

What should I do if I give up?

Any withdrawal must be reported to the nearest checkpoint official. Participants must not simply leave the course without notifying the organizers.

ACCESS & PARKING

Where to park for the NTMF?

The organizers recommend parking in Bailleul. Parking is available in various lots throughout the town, and participants can then walk or use the shuttle service to reach Saint-Jans-Cappel. The distance between Bailleul and Saint-Jans-Cappel is approximately 3.5 km.

Are there shuttle buses?

Yes. A shuttle service between Bailleul and Saint-Jans-Cappel is planned to facilitate access to the site. The exact schedule for the 2027 service will be announced before the event.

Can you drive directly to Saint-Jans-Cappel?

Traffic is heavily regulated on the day of the event, and vehicles are not permitted in the start and finish areas. It is therefore recommended to follow the traffic and parking plan published by the organizers before the race.

SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

What should I do if I witness an accident?

Immediately notify the organizers or the nearest first aid station. Each participant is also obligated to assist anyone in danger and to alert emergency services. The organizers' emergency numbers are provided to the runners.

Can a doctor force me to stop running?

Yes. Official doctors and rescuers can decide to disqualify or evacuate a participant if they believe their condition does not allow them to continue safely.

Is it permitted to throw away waste along the route?

No. Any littering outside designated areas may result in disqualification. The NTMF crosses natural areas and private property: respecting the land is an integral part of the regulations.
